The Fowler Historical Society was formed in 2002 after the township bought the Butts house and renovated it to house the Fiscal Officer's office and Zoning Office. Township Trustee James Haun approached Dave Cover to discuss the possibility of using the rest of the Butts' house for a museum. A group of citizens worked together to collect and display artifacts in the Butts house.
The Fowler Township Historical Society gives two $1,000 scholarships out every year. Applications can be acquired at Mathews High School office. Pictured are the 2024 scholarship recipients, Hailey Lynn Barrickman, John Shaw III and Richard Orsborn, scholarship committee chairman.
Regular meetings are held at the Community Center on the first Thursday of the months of April, May, June, September, October, and November.
Special meetings or committee meetings can be called when necessary.
